AMW/EG Trust grant to protect community animals
With the support of the Alice Morgan Wright/Edith Goode Trust, the Animal Rights Committee will start a small project to protect community animals from destruction and enforce the ordinance of Tbilisi City Hall of November 2001.
Under the project, which will start in summer 2005, a number of cats and dogs located within the project area will be vaccinated, and wherever possible, sterilized. Subsequently, they will be marked with a special collar for clear identification. ARC will place special posters within the project area to inform citizens and animal control authorities that the marked animals are vaccinated/sterilized and therefore protected from destruction by the Tbilisi City Hall ordinance of November 2001. The posters will send a clear message that spaying/neutering is the only effective way of dealing with animal overpopulation. Back to News |
