Animal Right Committee operates in three main directions:
  • Stray control: developing and implementing programs to eliminate stray animal problem and promote spaying/neutering
  • Animal rights legislation and monitoring: lobbying adoption of progressive animal rights laws and monitoring their observance.
  • Public awareness campaigns: promoting humane and ethical treatment of animals.

Below is a list of our past and current projects:

ARC’s website serves as an online repository of animal-related laws, regulations and acts of international, national and local importance. For more information, please refer to the Resources section of this site.

Alternatives to animal experiments

International Network of Humane Education (InterNICHE) produced a documentary film titled “Alternatives in Education: new approaches for a new millennium” and a book titled “From Guinea Pig to Computer Mouse”. The purpose of the film and the book is to promote and introduce humane alternatives to animal experiments/dissection in educational and medical research institutions. [details…]

Support to cat shelter

Animal Rights Committee introduces a charity sale of postcards designed by talented artist Giorgi Akhvlediani. In addition to creating original pieces of artwork, Giorgi runs a makeshift cat shelter at the open-air Ethnographic Museum of Tbilisi, where he feeds and takes care of homeless cats. [details…]

Information and promotion

ARC closely works with the media. We respond to articles, interviews and reports concerning animals, and through our letters and interviews promote the cause of animal rights in Georgia. Some articles covering ARC’s activities are featured in the Resources section.

ARC distributes animal-related updates through its website and mailing list. You can stay informed about ARC’s activities and situation of animals in Georgia by visiting the News section of this website or subscribing to AnimalRights-GE, ARC’s mailing list.
